Welcome to our lab
Our research group investigates how the human brain subserves the experience of pain in health and disease. The lab is led by Markus Ploner, and based at the Department of Neurology of the Technische Universität München. The lab is part of the TUM-Neuroimaging Center (TUM-NIC).
Our main research interest is how the brain translates objective sensory information into a subjective percept, in particular with respect to pain. We are particularly interested in the functional significance of neuronal oscillations and neuronal communication for the translation process. Our approach includes psychophysics, the advanced analysis of EEG and non-invasive brain stimulation.
Our research is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.
